The Department of Geotechnical & Transportation is one of the department in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and widely recognised both nationally and internationally for the quality of the research and teaching, especially noted for the strong interactive links with the industry. The department currently have 29 Academic Staffs including 2 Professors & 10 Associate Professor. Besides academics staffs, the department has 11 Technical & Support Staffs, one Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory ,Advanced Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory, Geology Laboratory and Transportation Engineering Laboratory.

In addition to the academic and research staff, the department have a team of experience technicians who will be on hand to help you gain the most from our well equipped laboratories and computing facilties.The Department currently have one Research Centres and few Research Groups. Each year students from home and abroad join us to take advantage of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes the department offer.
The quality and relevance of the education, training and innovation delivered was reflected in the exceptional record the department have of placing students into employment. The department also currently have a few full-time and part-time research students registered for M.Eng (Civil - Geotechnic) M.Phil and Ph.D degress.
